Another lovely Fall season is here and we are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving Day and the scrumptious meal at a gorgeous French country inspired blue and white table design accented with pops of cranberry.
Those of you who know me and my approach to table design know that I always start planning for a holiday well in advance of the actual occasion. For this year’s Thanksgiving table, I got inspiration from these lovely blue and white salad plates I found at Home Goods while looking for a few fun Halloween items.
Once I have the color theme in mind, I start to think about how it will all come together by looking at foundation pieces like linens, and this blue and white print tablecloth was a perfect fit! It has a slightly French feeling to it, so I carried that look throughout the table with accents and florals, leaning toward a French countryside look for the final design.
Adding Flowers is Always a Good Idea!
The flowers for the table added more of the cranberry color, as well as some mauve tones to soften the final look. These beautiful faux floral stems are from Afloral.com, a wonderful website for seasonal artificial stems.
Layer the Placesetting for Visual Interest
The Thanksgiving place setting came together with layers of charger plates – both rattan and hammered metal – for a French countryside feel. Then I added crystal stemware, a lovely dinner plate I use for many table designs, finished off with the pretty blue and white salad plates I found with bird accents.
I chose a few different napkin options, using sheer cranberry napkins under the chargers, a lovely paper napkin with a color scheme that matched my floral arrangement perfectly, and a beautiful linen napkin with a cranberry colored emblem for some flourish!
Add Fun Accents to Enhance the Theme
The final touches were adding rustic accents to each place setting and the main table with these fun crowns with birds on them to keep the French countryside theme going with a little whimsy.
I think this table turned out especially beautiful this year! We can’t wait to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and long weekend here, laughing, talking and enjoying a delicious meal together. I hope you found some new ideas for your next Thanksgiving table design. Until next year, Cheers!
