After a fun filled flurry of holiday festivities during the Fall and Winter season, February brings a slightly cozier holiday to enjoy, Valentine’s Day!
For this Valentine’s Day tablescape, I went with a classic red and white design, then added hearts all over and several floral arrangements to carry the color theme throughout.
Setting The Table
I started the table with the place settings and used a variety of layers, starting with a red beaded placemat, a gold rimmed acrylic charger and mix and match (always!) plates, starting with a beautiful scalloped edged dinner plate from la porcellana bianca, a red striped salad plate I found on replacements.com, and finished with a heart dessert plate with a printed heart shaped paper napkin to add some visual interest.
I then added a red linen napkin with fun red and white striped napkin rings to match the salad plates, beautiful stemware and mother of pearl flatware to finish of the look.
Adding Florals
Once I had the place setting done, I started on the flower arrangement, using several different stems of white anemones, red roses and magenta poppies add some variety. To the color scheme of red and white, with green seeded eucalyptus adding some balance to the final look.
Because you can never have too many flowers on a Valentine’s Day table, I created mini versions of the main arrangement to place on either side of the larger one as well as at each place setting.
Making it Special with Accents
As is always the case with a tablescape, adding special theme based accents makes the table fun and sometime even interactive! For this red and white Valentine’s day table, I added red glass hearts to each place setting, and red and white printed crackers that matched the paper heart napkins.
And of course, there are treats that are within reach of each place setting – these were macarons that got a little romantic touch to them with heart shaped candy in red and white, they matched perfectly and were yummy too!
I hope you found some new ideas for your next holiday table design. Until next year, Cheers!
