My birthday is right around the corner from Easter every year, and while most of the time I do a combination table, this year I designed a vibrant Spring tablescape for my special day with loads of colorful flowers and accents to celebrate at!
For almost all of my table designs, I start with a tablecloth as the foundation to either create a blank canvas or add some color or texture to the final look. Here I wanted all of the colorful elements of the design to take center stage, so I started with a clean white tablecloth in a diamond pique pattern for a little texture.
Adding the Florals
Because this tablescape was all about the vibrant colors of Spring, I started with the flowers for the table, using a few easy shortcuts.
The main floral centerpiece started off with a pretty, but slightly plain, pre-made bundle of colorful ranunculus that I elevated and made my own with additional flowers and greenery to add some height and dimension to the final arrangement.
Quick Tip – I almost always use faux florals when I do my floral designs for a table and using premade bundles that you can add your own ideas to is an easy shortcut to building something completely from scratch.
I then added four more floral arrangements in varying heights to the table using stems in the same color family as the main centerpiece of magenta, orange, yellow and peach.
Design the Place Setting
Once the flowers were in place, I started to design the place setting using a woven rattan charger and layers of plates, wrapping the dinner plate in a colorful napkin to match the bright flowers on the table.
To keep the look slightly organic, I used a boxwood napkin ring around a lovely seafoam napkin and added a magenta floral stem for more pops of color.
I finished with mix and match stemware using white dot wine glasses and blush colored champagne coupe glasses for some fun final touches.
Adding Fun Accents
A table design only really becomes a tablescape once you add the final little extras to it that make it unique. For this Spring table, I added boxwoods to give the look some earthiness with tall topiaries, mini trees and boxwood balls scattered around.
Candles were the final touch in aqua hues that looked beautiful against all of the colorful florals. Tapers, pillars and textured votive holders in varying shades of blues complemented the dinner napkin and salad plate in the place setting design.
This fun and vibrant table was a little unexpected once it all came together. I wasn’t sure how the rich tones of the flowers would work, but I think it came together beautifully! This table design was for my birthday this year, but it could easily transition to an Easter table by adding some bunnies and birds as your fun table accents.
I hope you found some fun, new ideas to bring some pops of vibrant color to your next Spring celebration table design. Until next time, Cheers!
