For this St. Patrick’s Day, I designed a whimsical rainbow-inspired tablescape that added vibrant colors to the traditional green and gold, with puffy clouds of white flowers and brightly colored stems to give the table a fun and vibrant final look!
The table started with a white tablecloth with shimmering gold stripes to keep the theme fanciful while creating a clean canvas for the bright colors to pop against. Gold striped votives were added to match the table linens and add more shine, while green ombre trees and green and white striped candles kept the mood playful.
Designing the Place Setting
Once I had the main pieces of this St. Patrick’s Day table design in place, I started with the place setting, using a green beaded clover placemat as the foundation.
To keep the look whimsical, I started with a gold polka dot rimmed plate and added a glass clover salad plate.
Mix and match to get the look you want. Here I added pops of color using rainbow-hued paper napkins and emerald green linen napkins with cloud like napkin rings at each plate to bring the rainbows in the clouds look to each place setting.
I finished with shiny gold flatware and mixed stemware using a clear wine glass with gold swirls and green champagne flutes for some added color.
Creating the Floral Design
I wanted the flowers for this St. Patrick’s Day table to look like a rainbow had come out of the clouds over the table, so I started with several small glass vases filled with white puffy flowers as the frame for the rainbow.
I then used a series of clear tall glass vases to create the rainbow using vibrant stems to create a centerpiece and make the design visually enchanting.
Adding Fun Accents
Because pots of gold are to be found at the end of rainbow, I placed gold votives overflowing with gold coins on each side of the table, then added some chocolate gold coins for extra luck!
The table started with stripes in the tablecloth and I kept that idea going to keep it fun using gold striped votives, green striped ombre trees, and green and white striped candles.
For more color at each place setting, I created smaller versions of a rainbow using florals at each place setting.
This colorful table was so joyful once it all came together, I loved the bright pops of color against all the fun stripes throughout, and the polka dot dinner plates added extra shine and playfulness!
I hope you found some fun, new ideas to bring a little whimsy and bursts of color to your next St. Patrick’s Day table design. Until next year, Cheers!
