Traditional gold and green got a little drama for this St. Patrick’s Day tablescape with a few unexpected pops of black accents incorporated throughout the design.
Because I was going a little glam for this table, I started with a white tablecloth with shimmering gold stripes and added shimmering gold and green candles, black scrolled votives and gold accents for a festive and elegant look.
Once I had the foundation of the table in place, I started to design the place setting using a black scallop-edged placemat, then added a gold charger and layers of gold and black plates. The scallop edged striped black and white salad plates here were a perfect way to incorporate both pops of black while keeping the look elegant.
Several napkins added color and different textures, and an elegant gold napkin ring provided some extra glam. I finished with shiny gold flatware and mixed stemware using some beautiful Waterford crystal wine glasses in dramatic black and vibrant green champagne coupe glass.
The flowers here started with huge white orlane roses with gold centers as the main flower to keep with the elegant table design, that were framed by stems of green ranunculus, smaller white roses, white hydrangeas and seeded eucalyptus stems. For almost all of more tables, the florals are typically faux to give me some flexibility on the seasonality of available flowers, as well as the final vessel they end up in. With no water required, you can use almost anything for a vase when using faux flowers.
Elevate the final tablescape by adding special elements that tie into the overall theme and color palette of the table, while creating some additional visual interest. For this design, I added a crystal bowl of gold foil chocolate balls, gold crackers, and a gold clover to add shine, texture and some St. Patrick’s Day charm to the final look.
Candles added color, design and sparkle with scrolled black votives, gold glitter tapers and green glitter pillars. For more glam at each place setting, I placed gold crackers to open after dinner and added more roses in small gold julep cups at each place setting.
Enjoying our classic St. Patrick’s Day dinner at this table was both delicious and special! The touches of glitter and black accents made it feel especially glamorous this year, and we loved toasting to this Irish holiday in style!
I hope you found some new ideas to bring a little glam to your next St. Patrick’s Day table design. Until next year, Cheers!
