I’m taking traditional red, white and blue to the next level with this inspired Fourth of July table design, using all of the key colors of this holiday in different and unexpected ways from fun dinnerware to unique candles and festive table accents.
Setting the Table
I started this table design with the place settings to create an anchor for the table to build around.
As with almost all of my designs, the first piece of the place setting was layers of silver and blue glass charge plates. I then added a simple white dinner plate and a fun red and white striped salad plates that gave me both stars and stripes with the pattern!
Because this is a Fourth of July design, I wanted the final touches to the place setting here to add a sense of spark! I wrapped a white napkin with blue stitched edges in a fun red and white striped napkin ring that looked like a mini firework, then added a patriotic cracker w/ silver sparkles for some fun pops after we finished our meal! Speckled wine glasses and silver flatware with gold accents finished off the look.
Adding the Extras
Once my anchors were in place, I started thinking about how to elevate this Fourth of July table design to make it special, leading with flowers of course! I designed the initial large florals for the center of the table using white and blue hydrangeas accented with red roses, and transferred that same idea to smaller vases around the table, using mini ranunculus in white and red, in various vases.
I then added candles for some shine, using both silver mercury votives and light blue textures votives, and added tall tapers in blue and white stripes and red and white polka dots I found on Etsy – they added color, pattern and fun to the final look!
This slightly unconventional Fourth of July tablescape was so lovely once it all came together! I loved the different patterns that played on the stars and stripes theme while keeping it fresh and fun.
I hope you found some inspiration and new ideas to elevate your next Fourth of July table design. Until next year, Cheers!
